When I was in 7th grade my English teacher had the class read this book. At the time I was not an avid reader because of a vison disorder but after the teacher read the first chapter out loud I when home that night and finished the rest. Needless to say that this book was fundamental in developing my love of the printed word. Also, the artwork in the book was a big part of that. Barker is a great artist as well as a great storyteller. While preparing this book for upload I tried to see if I could find good scans of the art in the novel but to no avail. So I decided to do what I usually do in these situations: sort it out for myself. After buying a few different copies of the book I decided to deconstruct the original hardcover since the paper and images where best in that printing. Not being an expert I’m not sure of how good of a job that I did but I do know that they are a fair site better than what was available online up until this point. As a bonus (at least to me) the narrator is Erik Sandvold, who almost always does a fantastic job. I personally like this performance better than the other 3 copies that I have [Adam Verner’s reading is pretty good too].
Anyways I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Hellblazer1138

Mr. Hood’s Holiday House has stood for a thousand years, welcoming countless children into its embrace. It is a place of miracles, a blissful round of treats and seasons, where every childhood whim may be satisfied.
There is a price to be paid, of course, but young Harvey Swick, bored with his life and beguiled by Mr. Hood’s wonders, does not stop to consider the consequences. It is only when the House shows its darker face—when Harvey discovers the pitiful creatures that dwell in its shadows—that he comes to doubt Mr. Hood’s philanthropy.
The House and its mysterious architect are not about to release their captive without a battle, however. Mr. Hood has ambitions for his new guest, for Harvey’s soul burns brighter than any soul he has encountered in a thousand years…
