You can tell that he’s greatly enjoying his job here and there throughout, which is important in audiobooks as I’m sure you all know if you’re reading this. I extend my wholehearted thanks to the people who have posted my sources for this. I just personally prefer to have collections like this all in one place, in one file.

These series of books span thousands of years but are rarely boring or slow.

They have everything, from a full pantheon with multiple religions and full mythologies, huge reveals, intricate world building, mystery, cospiracies inside conspiracies, underdogs punching up, sacred quests, romance, magic, monsters, swordfighting, theivery, politics, buddy comedy, etc., etc… these are all plotted by a magnificent writing voice that makes you want to be part of the stories as they unfurl. Sullivan and Reynolds deliver each sentence in such a way that you share the joy, misery, fear, hilarity, anguish, awe, faith, agnosticism, hope, confusion, and love that the characters experience. Once you get started learning about this world and these characters it tends to be hard to stop.

This series is one of my favorite ever. Top 10, probably top 5. Sullivan created a world that couldn’t help but push him to return to writing over a decade after giving up on the dream of making a living at it to become a massive success through independent publishing, telling the publishing powers-that-be to kiss off at a time when that was rarely accomplished.
